Breaking the Ice: Please share with the group someone living you know a lot about but would really like to meet and why.  What would be the difference for you between knowing about them and knowing them personally?

Please Read: Matthew 10:29-31; Psalm 139:14-13; & Psalm 103:10-14

1.      Summarize what these verses say concerning how God feels about you personally.

Please Read:  John 10:14-16.  The Greek word for “know” in this passage is ginosko and is used more than 200 times in the NT - close to 100 times in John’s writings.  

2.      How did Jesus know the Father and How did Jesus say His sheep would know Him?

Please Read:  John 14:5-10 & Luke 10:22.

3.      In what ways did the apostles know Jesus?

4.      What does Jesus’ answer to Philip reveal about His relationship to God the Father?

5.      According to Jesus here can you know the Father without knowing Jesus?  Why or Why not?

6.      What did Jesus mean when He said He would be in His followers?

7.      What does this verse say about people in the world?

8.      John says we have been given “understanding” that we may “know him who is true.”  What is the difference, if any, between his use of understanding and knowing here?
